Fiat Panda Group 2 By GA Modding. On 29 February the car was previewed to President Sandro Pertini, in the Quirinale gardens, and on 5 March the new utility car definitively called Panda was exhibited at the Geneva Motor Show; continuing the new type of identification begun in 1978 with the Ritmo, the FIAT marketing department decided to give the car a fancy name rather than the designation of the internal project. The following year it took second place for the Car of the Year title. The car in question was equipped with a 903 cm³ water-cooled four-cylinder engine, formerly the engine of the Fiat 127 ("Panda 45"), it was destined to fit between the 126 and 127. At that time, a car for young had to be robust, spartan, and very fast, suitable for the most varied situations and conditions of use, as well as economic in purchase and management. This version was used for a period of time in Italian slalom.
